Getting A Deal On Cheap Wheelchairs

If you haven't got a budget that will stretch to cover an expensive wheelchair, or you're wanting a second chair that will be portable and something you can keep in your trunk or at a cabin, you're probably looking for a source for cheap wheelchairs. Cheap doesn't have to mean poor quality as long as you know where to look for deals. The Internet is a good source, because there is a lot of competition for your business, and you can often find the best prices available by looking there.

It All Depends on what you Consider to be Cheap

You can buy a Comfort Ultra-Light manual wheelchair for just over $300. While this model isn't packed with a lot of fancy gadgets, it will still suffice when you need a chair that only weighs  31 pounds. The aluminum frame is sturdy enough to carry a load of as much as 250 pounds. You get the convenience of swingaway foot rests and flip-back arm rests so that these parts of the chair won't be in your way if you aren't using them. In addition, the chair is well-padded and covered with a breathable nylon upholstery to keep you comfortable.

An Excel Extra Wide manual wheelchair only runs $209, comes with a durable, carbon steel frame that will support up to 450 pounds, and has heavy duty fork stems to prevent the chair from wobbling. This is a whole lot of chair for the money, and although it may not be a chair someone would want to spend their days in, it is capable to transporting larger people in safety.

Try eBay or Overstock.com

Of course, online shops aren't the only resource where you can find cheap wheelchairs. You might want to try eBay or Overstock.com to see if they have anything to offer. At the time of this writing, there is a wheelchair listed on eBay that you can purchase for $47.00 as long as you can pick it up on Long Island. There are also a number of new wheelchairs listed for as little as $99. Ebay is also a good place to find less expensive accessories for your wheelchair in order to make your chair more functional. Overstock.com has a choice of three basic Medline wheelchairs, all under $200.

If you're only going to be in a wheelchair for a short period of time, the cheapest route to go will probably be to rent a chair. You might also check with local medical supply stores, doctor's offices, hospitals, or rental shops to see if they have any older model chairs they would sell you cheap. Of course, the models we've been discussing in this article aren't top-of-the-line, motorized chairs, but they will get you to where you want to go in relative comfort. If you can find a high-quality chair advertised online for a low price, that would be great, too. Persevere in your search, and you will certainly find the cheap wheelchair that you're looking for at a price you can afford.
